Differentiation in the environment is about setting up the classroom in a way that facilitates differentiated activities. In “Differentiation in the Real World: Environment,” Lisa Van Gemert shows teachers that good ideas don’t need to cost a fortune to implement. Even in small spaces, ideas such as rolling craft carts and magnetic bulletin boards can be used to facilitate different types and levels of learning activities. In addition, Ms. Van Gemert addresses how to make the differentiated classroom a safe place for students to choose activities at different learning levels.

In this 1-hour course, teachers will learn:

  • Guiding principles and key ideas for implementing differentiation
  • Strategies for differentiating the environment in the classroom

  8. Judi – DRISCOLL ISD (verified owner)

I really enjoyed this course. I liked that differentiation is not ALWAYS about content. Sometimes I feel in math that they all need the same content so differentiating it is more difficult. But if I can differentiate environment and with centers, posters, etc. this makes it seem more doable.

  10. Kassie – MCKINNEY ISD (verified owner)
