If you don’t understand basic multiplication, then there’s no way that you will understand trigonometry. When students don’t understand a foundational concept in a particular subject, they will struggle with the advanced concepts. Many educators rely on a system that requires students to advance in material even if they don’t master it. Mastery learning takes into account the different learning styles and levels of all your students and helps you create lessons that benefit them all.
After taking this 3-module course you will walk away with an understanding of:
  • What mastery learning is
  • Why mastery learning is important
  • The Grid method
  • The best practices for mastery learning
  • Formative assessments
  • And more

ODE Teacher competency: a, b, c, f, g

I liked the out of the box thinking the grid method imposes on traditional teaching styles. It is a great way to meet the needs of all levels of learners in your classroom, allowing the teacher to feel less overwhelmed and more in the moment when working with and assessing students.
