ELL students face unique challenges in the classroom, but what steps can teachers take to help them grow and thrive? Join former teacher, instructional specialist, administrator, and ELL specialist Tracy Dennnis and discover the main components of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) and how they can help your ELL students expand their academic horizons.

In this 1-hour course you will explore:

  • How to identify student language proficiency levels
  • How to plan linguistically-accommodated instruction
  • How to set classroom language objectives
  • Scaffolding techniques to help build students’ background knowledge and understanding
Tracy Dennis has served in education for over 25 years as a teacher’s assistant, an elementary and a middle school teacher, a campus instructional specialist, a campus administrator, an educational specialist at Region 13 Education Service Center, instructional coach, and a district administrator. She was awarded ESL Teacher of the Year in Fort Bend ISD. She obtained a Master of Education in English as a Second Language from Grand Canyon University.

Tracy has presented at an array of district, regional, state, and national trainings and conferences. She has planned and implemented high-impact multimedia presentations (face-to-face and online) for professional development at every level, including paraprofessional, auxiliary staff, teachers, campus administrators, central office professionals, and superintendents.
