Description

In this course, Carolyn Coil explains why students are less creative than earlier generations and why this trend must be reversed for 21st century learners. Using Ms. Coil’s unique lesson plan formats, you will be able to develop creative thinking in your students as well as assess student creativity through open-ended assessment tools.

In this 6-hour course, you will learn:

  • The critical case for teaching creativity in the 21st century
  • How creativity and giftedness are related
  • Criteria and methods for assessing creative projects and presentations
  • Four standards-based lesson plan formats to use in developing creativity and higher-level thinking
This course is aligned with 2016 ODE Teacher Competencies a, b, c, f, g and NAGC Teacher Preparation Standards 3.1, 5.1, 5.2.

Ms. Coil is a former teacher, adjunct professor, and resource specialist. She is an internationally known speaker, author, trainer and consultant. In her professional development courses, seminars and keynotes, she is known to be enthusiastic, motivating and energetic. Ms. Coil focuses on RTL monitoring strategies, implementing differentiation in the classroom, raising student achievement and applying assessment strategies. She also covers the challenges associated with preparing ourselves and our children for living and working in the 21st Century.
