There is a far more engaging and effective way to teach high school English classes to gifted students than the common approach of teaching each class as a stand-alone unit. By merging Pre-AP English 1, 2 and AP Language into one cohesive program you can gain the maximum benefit for students.

Description

There is a far more engaging and effective way to teach high school English classes to gifted students than the common approach of teaching each class as a stand-alone unit. By merging Pre-AP English 1, 2 and AP Language into one cohesive program you can gain the maximum benefit for students.

This online course will show you how to focus each Pre-AP course around specific skill sets and themes, how to zero in on each individual student’s specific abilities and challenges, and how to incorporate all three Pre-AP courses into one program designed in such a way that students graduate with a full arsenal of writing and analytical skills that have been steadily built upon and expanded in a purposeful way.

Kathryn Pabst Schaeffer, Ed.D., is the Executive Director of Advanced Academic Services for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. She completed her Ed.D. at Dallas Baptist University, received a Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of Texas at Dallas and completed her Gifted and Talented Lifetime Endorsement from The University of North Texas. Ms. Pabst Schaeffer often presents on gifted curriculum as well as Advanced Placement (AP) College Board programming. She is also the chair of the Research Division of the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT).

    interesting

  10. Denise – FLOUR BLUFF ISD (verified owner)

I wish I could have attended the workshop in person. There was pertinent and important information given for building a program and not just a class. I feel this is what our district truly needs.
