Description
Socratic Seminars are an amazing way to engage students in meaningful classroom discussions. During this course, participants will join Lori Dreyer, the Elementary Gifted Liaison for Springboro Schools, and Lindsay Slamer, the Gifted Intervention Specialist for Springboro Schools, in exploring the elements of hosting a Socratic Seminar in their own classrooms. After discussing the necessary elements, participants will take a deeper dive into what the classroom environment looks like before, during, and after the seminar and learn about variations of Socratic Seminars, including challenges that may arise.
In this 1-hour course teachers will discover:

- How to make the classroom environment conducive to using the Socratic Seminar approach
- Why Socratic Seminar is an effective instructional strategy to use with gifted learners
