In this 30-minute course, Artificial Intelligence (AI): Responsible Use in School Districts, Responsive Learning provides practical guidance on using AI responsibly, transparently, and safely. Educators will explore Texas HB 3512 requirements, data privacy, human oversight, bias and equity, approved AI tools, and appropriate use, helping ensure that AI enhances education without compromising professional judgment or student protection.

Texas Government Code Sections 2054.5191 and 2054.5193 require certain state and local government employees and officials to complete a certified artificial intelligence (AI) awareness training program. The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), in consultation with the Public Sector AI Systems Advisory Board, certifies eligible training.

This AI Awareness training is certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) under Texas law. Effective dates: 9/1/2026 – 8/31/2027.

How can educators embrace the opportunities of artificial intelligence while protecting students, staff, and the school community? Artificial Intelligence (AI): Responsible Use in School Districts, presented by Responsive Learning, provides practical guidance for navigating the legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities surrounding AI in education. In this 30-minute course, educators will explore Texas HB 3512 requirements, appropriate and prohibited AI uses, data privacy, human oversight, transparency, and risk management. The course emphasizes that AI should support—not replace—professional judgment and highlights the importance of using only district-approved AI tools when conducting school business.

Educators will also examine how AI can introduce bias, privacy concerns, and other risks, while learning how to protect confidential information, review AI-generated content, communicate transparently, and report concerns appropriately. By understanding their individual responsibilities, educators can use AI thoughtfully while maintaining trust, protecting student information, and supporting equitable educational practices.
