Description
In Closing the Achievement Gap for Students Raised in Poverty – Intelligence and Achievement, Dr. Joyce Juntune explores the reasons and the effects of the gap in verbal skills for students raised in poverty. She explains three skills that will help to bridge this gap: using nonverbal skills to build verbal skills (mindsketching), building complex language, and building verbal memory.
In this 1-hour course, teachers will learn about:
- The achievement gap and students in poverty
- How intelligence and achievement are related
- Problems caused by verbal/nonverbal intelligence gaps
