Description
Incorporating creativity into the classroom isn’t just about making art projects or decorations. It’s about teaching students to approach problems creatively and become richer, deeper thinkers. Lisa Van Gemert, award-winning educational consultant, guides teachers through an in-depth look at how to bring creative instruction into their classrooms. This six-hour course, “Creativity and Instructional Strategies,” dives deep into what creativity is and how to use it in the classroom.
In this course educators will learn about:
- How creativity affects a student’s learning
- Resources for cultivating a creative classroom
- Creative activities
- Humor and creativity

This course was alright, some of the information felt unnecessary and the speaker did not sound confident in the information given; she constantly sounded lost and all over the place. Additionally, the Reflective Questions, half the time did not make sense.
Also, I did not agree with what was said in one of the units “4.6.2. Examples of Teacher Humor,” where Lisa Van Gemert stated “so that I grade 5 good ones, 5 bad ones, 5 good ones….Otherwise, you know I would want to slit my wrists.” I found this comment to be very unprofessional and can be viewed as triggering to some. Please have that video evaluated and edited. Thank you.

I think the activities she has to offer are great, but her voice is very monotone. One of her first points was to change our voice and make it interesting, which she failed to do. She also speaks very slow. An option to have the sound 1x, 1.5x or 2x faster would be great.

I love the activities that Lisa introduced here. The use of the cube comes in handy in facilitating classroom discussions because a lot of times students need conversation starters.
