Description

What if AP classrooms are not actually geared toward meeting the needs of gifted students? Differentiation is the key to engaging students across the learning spectrum, especially in the AP classroom; but many AP teachers avoid differentiating because they have false beliefs about how to use it, and how it can benefit their advanced learners.

In this 1-hour course, tackle the top three myths about differentiation:

  1. Colleges do not differentiate instruction
  2. Pre-AP and AP classes are already leveled and do not require differentiation
  3. Differentiation is meant to close performance gaps for struggling learners (or specifically for SPED classes)

    1. Fotini – FABENS ISD (verified owner)

The audio wasn’t that great. If you have external speakers you should be fine.

    2. Stephany – HUGHES SPRINGS ISD (verified owner)

Audio had gaps and I would rather have a print out of the notes. Too much writing and my notes are overwhelming.

    3. Cynthia – WYLIE ISD (verified owner)

I understand how to implement DI into the classroom better.

    4. Shannan – Pilot (verified owner)

The course was beneficial. It focused more on Pre-AP and AP students. I needed a course focused on differentiation with Gifted and Talented more so than AP students.

    5. Joaquin – UNITED ISD (verified owner)

      Good Course

    6. Tera – PROSPER ISD (verified owner)

This course is more geared for secondary teachers. While I did get some valuable information, I would have liked a coursed more targeted for elementary teachers.

It works for outside of AP courses too.

      It was clear and interesting

    20. chrissy – LOS FRESNOS CISD (verified owner)

It was not recorded properly. the presenter talked and then the slide showed played silently separately . Seemed like a lot of complaining that people do not buy into differentiation with ap classes, With only an hour I wish more content was provided.

    21. Jessica – EDINBURG CISD (verified owner)

Differentiated instruction is crucial for our student, even though they may gifted and talented not all students learn in a homogeneous way

    22. Bob – Private Pay (verified owner)

      Very practical and insightful.

    34. Piedad – UNITED ISD (verified owner)

      Very interesting!

    35. Nancy – MCKINNEY ISD (verified owner)

Differentiation is a T-TESS buzzword, and it is good to have a course to help me understand what that looks like in the AP English Literature class.

    36. Danny – UNITED ISD (verified owner)

      too fast with the visuals

    37. RD – HALLSVILLE ISD (verified owner)

I enjoyed the presenter (again) — we had a chance to have her in person and this talk went beyond CAP into some more of the background and I enjoyed it very much. As an AP teacher for many years, I really enjoyed the discussion of DI in AP.

    38. Kelly – SOUTH TEXAS ISD (verified owner)

This woman spent almost the entire LECTURE telling us why teachers resist using DI. The title of the lecture was only mentioned ONCE. (I signed up because of the title). She did NOT model differentiated instruction. Towards the end when she looked like she might get to the point and share useful info with us, she just spouted the researchers we all learned about in our teacher courses. Nothing new.

    39. Dora – UNITED ISD (verified owner)

I found this course very helpful to teach my advanced classes.

    40. Nathan – FLOUR BLUFF ISD (verified owner)

It was good. There were good practical examples of how to use some of the differentiated strategies.

    41. Robin – PLANO ISD (verified owner)

Some of the best info on reaching all gifted kids without traditional instruction. I’ll recommend to my department.

    42. Sara – DEL VALLE ISD (verified owner)

This course was interesting, but it was not what I expected.

    43. Wendy – BOERNE ISD (verified owner)

      Audio was a little wonky.

    44. Gwynetta – TULOSO-MIDWAY ISD (verified owner)

Great course. Easy to listen to. Lots of great ideas.

    45. Ernesto – LA FERIA ISD (verified owner)

A good introduction to Differentiation instruction.

    46. Alishea – Private Pay (verified owner)

Helpful- the research supports the use of differentiated instruction in AP classes and for gifted learners, which is what I was hoping to learn.

    47. JUAN A – SOCORRO ISD (verified owner)

      Great Course!

    48. ROSA – VALLEY VIEW ISD PHARR – REGION 01 (verified owner)

I believe the title is not relevant to the content.

    49. Veronica – UNITED ISD (verified owner)

This course was very interesting, do recommended to Pre-AP and AP educators!

    50. Cecilia – ECTOR COUNTY ISD (verified owner)
