Description

Every student is unique, but gifted students from underrepresented populations often require special considerations. What factors do you need to be aware of, and how can you meet needs specific to students with diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds?

In this 3-hour course, learn the answers to these questions, and empower your underrepresented students to use the three ABCs of self-regulation:
  • Affect (drive, motivation, directing attention)
  • Behavior (actions, communication styles and skills)
  • Cognition (metaphysical, infracognitive and metacongitive thinking skills)

This is truly one of the best seminars I have attended as a teacher. It is designed for gifted learners, but so perfectly fits the needs of all students in our high poverty, high drug-problem-laden school district. I have already started sharing the infomation with my peers and have made screen shots of some of the ideas that I deeply want to remember. Thank you so much.

This is a great course for teachers of GT students and really all types of students. It is beneficial for students to know how to succeed and prepare them for their future. Being a teacher with GT students, one knows that these students may not have the coping skills for dealing with failure because they may have not failed before. A lot is expected from them externally from teachers and parents and internally from themselves, so they may feel overwhelmed and not know how to self regulate or know how to deal with setbacks. This training is terrific at make one aware of this and how to teach students how to get past these setbacks too. Great training!
